Type species
Chrysomela atricilla Linnaeus 1761[5]: 166 (Europe), by subsequent designation by Maulik (1926: 333).
Distribution
All zoogeographical regions (Fig. 332).
Ecology
This genus is polyphagous and has been associated with several plant families, particularly the Boraginaceae, Asteraceae, Lamiaceae and Scrophulariaceae (cf. Jolivet and Hawkeswood 1995[6]; personal data).
Notes
Over one hundred species known from Madagascar and Sub-Saharan Africa (personal data).
