Warning If you want to rename a file, please don't upload it again under a new name but use {{rename}} instead.
This template will categorize into Cat:Duplicate.

Use this template on the media page that should be deleted, to tag exact duplicates. The format is {{duplicate|Example.jpg}}, where Example.jpg (without the "File:" prefix) is the file to be kept.

Note for programmers :

  • This template mainly calls template:Autotranslate, handing over three (potential) parameters (only one is used here), and adding a base=Duplicate named parameter. template:Autotranslate swiches back to Duplicate/lang (where lang is the language found in the user's preferences. The translation job is made by the sub-templates, and may therefore vary from one language to another.
  • The sub-template (normally...) calls the duplicate:layout template, adding three named parameters text=(general information text translated), adminsText=(instructions for admins if any, translated), and lang=base language code.
  • It also adds a call to template:nuke, which adds the small garbage can icon.
  • It categorizes the calling page (includeonly) as "duplicate".
