Upload images: optimal recommendations

Please feel free to alter this scheme (just text without colours) — it’s likely yet incomplete. Anyway, I think this should be added to the upload form.

Preferred (optimal) upload formats for images, in order of preference:

English:

Image formats

Why is it not possible to upload GIMP xcf files? It’s GNU and these files can save also several layers. So for the purpose of further editing it seems to be a loss to fuse all layers and reduce it to a bitmap file. --Andreas Plank 13:06, 14 February 2010 (CET)

Licenses

Maybe it’s a good idea too to add some licenses in MediaWiki:licenses and MediaWiki:nolicense (for default, i.e. no selection) --Andreas Plank 13:06, 14 February 2010 (CET):

• PD-self, PD-old, PD-ineligible
• Cc-by-sa-3.0 (?as default)
• …and what else?
