blastema (noun; plural blastemata; Greek blastema, bud): 1. Undifferentiated cells that later develop into an organ or structure. a. The part of an organism that gives rise to a new organism, as in asexual reproduction. b. That which often gives rise to regeneration of a lost part or appendage
