mentum (noun; Latin mentum, chin): 1. (Arthropoda: Diplopoda) A median, slightly triangular sclerite in the gnathochilarium.

2. (Arthropoda: Insecta) a. The distal sclerite of a typical insect labium, bearing the palps and the ligula. b. In bees, the second joint bearing the palps, paraglossa and ligula.
