brachiolaria (noun; plural brachiolariae; Latin diminutive brachium, arm): (Echinodermata: Asteroidea) The free-swimming, ciliated larva that develops from the bipinnaria and is characterized by three additional arms extending from the anterior part of the ventral surface, anterior to the preoral loop.
