Type material

ANSP 8453, lectotype.

Remarks

This taxon was considered a synonym of Bothriembryon bulla (Menke, 1843) by B.J. Smith (1992: 102); it was grouped by Richardson (1995)[2] with Bothriembryon melo (Quoy and Gaimard, 1832). We here tentatively follow the latter opinion; however, further study is needed to clarify the status of this taxon.
