Name

Pterostichus wenxianensis Allegro & Sciaky, 2010 new subgeneric assignment – Wikispecies link – Pensoft Profile

Type material examined

Holotype of Pterostichus wenxianensis Allegro & Sciaky (CRS), female, body length = 12.4 mm, board mounted, “GANSU / Wenxian”; “HOLOTYPUS ♂/ Pterostichus / (Circinatus)/ wenxianensis sp. n. / Allegro & Sciaky det. 2010” [red label].

Diagnosis

This species is very similar to Pterostichus schuelkei, but differs from the latter by: (1) hind angle forming indistinct obtuse angle (completely rounded in Pterostichus schuelkei); (2) body larger and wider than Pterostichus schuelkei; (3) ventral carina of median lobe of aedeagus stronger and longer than in Pterostichus schuelkei.

Distribution

Known only from the holotype, collected in Wenxian, Gansu, without further detailed locality.

Discussion

This species is very close to Pterostichus schuelkei. We assign it to Morphohaptoderus for the same reason as Pterostichus schuelkei.
