Familia: Sciaridae
Genus: Trichosiopsis

Name

Trichosiopsis nudinervosa (Rudzinski, 2005)Wikispecies linkZooBank link

  • Leptosciarella (Leptosciarella) nudinervosa Mohrig & Röschmann, 2004[1]: 269–270, fig. 2

Type material

Holotype: 1 ♂, alt. Malaise trap in cloud forest, Jul. 1991, leg. V. Almanzar, in AMNH

Type locality

Dominican Republic, Hispaniola, Duarte Prov., 13 km N San Francisco de Macoris, 800 ft.

Diagnosis

Trichosiopsis nudinervosa was regarded as typical member of the genus, recognizable by the absence of macrotrichia on the posterior wing veins, the bare postpronotum and the short palpi.

Etymology

lat. nudus- = bare; vena = vein. The name refers to bare posterior wing veins.

Discussion

Trichosiopsis nudinervosa is in general aspect similar to the Palaearctic species Leptospina nudinervis, which was excluded from the genus Trichosiopsis. It needs to be studied, if this species is also better placed in Leptospina.

Distribution

Dominican Republic[1].
